Book Review- Insurgent

Its early in the morning but I finished reading Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth yesterday while sitting on the patio enjoying the beautiful beach view!

From Goodreads:

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

For some reason, I don't really have much I want to write about this book.  I do have to admit that I got confused by some things that happened in the book but by then end, I think I had it all figured out.  Most of the confusion was about the faction members who were traitors and where they ended up or weren't traitors but ended up in another faction.  Confusing.

I still enjoyed Tris this time but not as much as before.  For having some Erudite, I thought some of her actions were reckless and not rational. But I loved how she stuck to what she believed even when it went against what her love believed.  Not so sure about Tobias anymore.  For as much as he hated his dad, he sure fell under his mom's trap quickly.

The ending definitely leaves you wondering what's coming up next.  I've heard lots of people didn't like the third book but I have no clue why!  I really need to get my hands on it!

I gave this book a rating of 3.5/5 rating.

*FTC Disclosure: I traded this book with a friend.
